FAQs

What is Luma?

Luma is a 2 day film and television festival in the School of Act on east campus. It is free to attended - just rock up on the day! Attend two panels with industry professionals, and watch screenings of 1st, 2nd, 3rd year and masters students.

We also have a big launch at 18:30 on Friday 7th of June in the Large rehearsal room - with food, drinks and live music. Come along to celebrate the end of the Semester!

Our “Gala” aka the Awards Ceremony, where prizes will be given and winning films screened, is the ONLY ticketed event. It’s at 18:30 in the HolbeckCinema, come along! Link in bio for tickets.

How do I know what to submit?

Our awards eligible submissions are now shut. But you can submit your films to be part of our year group screenings until June 1st. Submit and invite your crew to see your films on the big screen!

There will be an audience vote at each year group screening - the winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Ceremony.

How are the films / tv shows judged?

Best Film & TV are voted on by a panel of industry professionals.

All other awards are voted on by a jury of students from all across the University.

The people’s choice awards are voted on by YOU! At the year group screenings.

Who can come?

Anyone! LUMA is open to all and only the Gala is ticketed, so anyone can come and watch your films. Invite your cast, crew, housemates and family to your year group screening to see your films on the big screen (as well as vote on your favourite!)
